Title: Unable to Find PTZ IP
Equipment: Any Internet device
Introduction: The goal is to help Troubleshoot a PTZ camera that can't be found on a network
Identify the Problem
Symptoms: The camera is showing no signal and is unable to access the dashboard via the IP
Possible Causes: Plugged into the wrong port of the network switch, port not configured into VLAN. Camera reset to default IP.
Isolate The Issue: When troubleshooting initially, see if you can pull the IP via The Angry IP Scanner.
Step 1: If unable to find the IP, have a client grab a laptop with an ethernet cable (unless you are on site then do this with your work laptop).
Step 2: Plug Laptop into same port the camera is plugged into at the IDF. You will need to determine if the IP address is the same as others that are a part of the VLAN (Ex. 192.168.100.101). If not, please move to the steps below.
Troubleshoot the Problem
Step 1: Plug your laptop into the same port as the camera. You will need to make sure your network settings are on DHCP (Automatic).
Step 2: If the gateway IP matches the IP address on the laptop, chances are the camera's IP is set to default. Otherwise, Please see Step 2 below.
Resolve The Problem
Step 1: If Gateway matches the Port's I The Camera must of reset to its original IP. Please plug the camera into the laptop directly and type in its default IP (please research PTZ's Default IP). If still unable to find the camera's IP, please look at step 2.
Step 2: Work with the client's IT department the configuration for the VLAN to make sure that it can connect to all of Virtch's Devices.
